Over the summer, Gaza has been uppermost in our minds as we watched the horror unfolding on the ground. Like many of you, we were transfixed, and we felt powerless and small. We began asking ourselves questions like, “What are we doing, and what can we do?,”
and “How can we speak about film at a catastrophic time like this?” We realized that what we can do, and what we will do, is to go on. The is a celebration of Palestinian life, self-determination, and spirit. We celebrate that by showcasing films that explore and honor Palestinian heritage, history, artistic integrity, and cultural passion. As we mourn the loss of life and ache for the victims of the summer’s horrific ordeals in Palestine, the pain does not fade–but it does give us the determination to push forward with an endeavor that seems ever more vital. In that spirit, we look forward to reconnecting during our upcoming 8th annual film festival this fall.
