Invisible Policeman (Shunt ala Alhamesh)

2011 | Documentary | 59 min
by Laith Al-Juneidi
SUMMARY

Abu Sa’ed, a policeman at the Palestinian National Authority Police Department in Hebron, tries to live a normal life under absurd and paradoxical conditions in a divided city. “Uptown,” in the Palestinian-administered zone where he works, he wields some nominal authority as a policeman; “downtown,” where his is one of the few Palestinian families remaining in an area that is controlled and under lockdown by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers, he must remove his uniform and accept invisibility and powerlessness. The family is incessantly harassed by Israeli soldiers and settlers all around them, who wish to drive them out. Despite the hard reality, this documentary explores the hopes and dreams of a family.
