Siri Miri

SUMMARY

Out of boredom, two Palestinian teens ask Siri, a Virtual Assistant, for help. Will it work?

“Siri Miri” is a student short film which satirically captures a story not yet told about the life of Palestinian youth living in a technological age, and no-so-helpful AI assistants. Sick of their routine-run life spent coffee-sipping in smoke-filled coffeehouses, two millennials turn to the help of Siri to no avail.

The film’s name is a play on words that is inspired by Apple’s Siri and a Palestinian phrase that roughly translates to “back and forth” or “to and fro”.

This short film hopes to preserve the narratives of the Palestinian youth and answer the urgent need to amplify their voices while living under occupation in a somewhat modern, but limited, Palestine. It aims to conjure laughter, and fill in the gap left by the misrepresentation of Palestinians in the media.
